Gondán shipbuilders is celebrating its 100th anniversary by highlighting its leadership in the shipyard industry focused on highly specialized and technologically advanced vessels. The regional Presiden, Adrián Barbón, and the Spanish Minister for Industry, Jordi Hereu attended the anniversary celebration event. Álvaro Platero, CEO of this family-owned company, highlighted the key work of its more than 350 employees, who have made possible the evolution of the company from the initial wooden ships to sophisticated vessels, including the world’s largest electric catamaran.
The event took place in Figueras (Asturias) and it highlighted the company’s role as an international leader in both innovation and sustainability. Minister Hereu highlighted its role as a symbol of the strength of the Spanish shipbuilding industry and example in an industry that drives reindustrialization through technology, digitalization, and sustainable energy, while maintaining its commitment to local production and generating a positive economic and social impact in Asturias.
